Distinguish description and direction
A passage may describe an action, express a feeling, make a promise, or give an instruction. These require different responses. An account of someone’s behavior does not automatically commend it, and a promise to a particular audience should not be detached from that setting.
Holiness in shared life
Leviticus concerns Israel's worship and life near a holy God. Sacrifices, purity, justice, and calendar practices shape a covenant community. Read these instructions in their ancient setting before considering Christian application through Christ.
With Leviticus 15–17 in view: What does this instruction teach Israel about approaching God or protecting community life?
