Distinguish description and direction
A passage may describe an action, express a feeling, make a promise, or give an instruction. These require different responses. An account of someone’s behavior does not automatically commend it, and a promise to a particular audience should not be detached from that setting.
The kingdom and its King
Matthew presents Jesus' teaching and actions within Israel's scriptural story. The kingdom shapes prayer, relationships, justice, and discipleship. Read each saying in its setting and follow the narrative toward Jesus' death and resurrection.
With Matthew 19–22 in view: What does Jesus reveal about God's kingdom, and what response is invited?
