Bring an honest response
Application should follow understanding. Return to a specific part of the reading and consider an appropriate response: gratitude, lament, confession, a question, or a practical act of love. You do not need to force every difficult passage into an immediate instruction for your circumstances.
Witness crossing boundaries
Acts follows the Spirit's work as the witness to Jesus spreads from Jerusalem into the wider world. Opposition, discernment, and changes in community life accompany the mission. A narrated event is not automatically a formula for every church.
With Acts 28 in view: What boundary, difficulty, or decision shapes the community's witness here?
Grace and a renewed life together
Romans develops Paul's account of sin, grace, faith, Israel, and life in Christ. Follow his argument through connected paragraphs. The letter's practical instructions grow from God's mercy and address a community learning to live together.
With Romans 1–2 in view: How does this paragraph connect God's action with the response of faith or love?
Reflect on today’s passage
What response follows from the passage rather than from an idea you brought to it?
One response
Choose one modest response and explain the part of the reading that prompted it.
Pray
Bring one observation, one question, and one need from today’s reading to God. Ask for understanding and wisdom to respond faithfully.
