Follow the connections
Chapters help us find our place, but an argument or story can continue across a chapter boundary. Look for a change, contrast, consequence, or repeated concern that joins today’s sections. Reading those connections can prevent an isolated line from carrying a meaning it does not have.
Care for a household of faith
The letter addresses teaching, leadership, worship, vulnerable members, and the dangers of wealth. Church order serves faithful life together. Some instructions are interpreted differently among Christians; historical setting and the whole letter matter.
With 1 Timothy 5–6 in view: How would this instruction protect people or strengthen the integrity of the community?
Faithfulness passed on
The letter urges endurance, sound teaching, and responsible handling of Scripture amid suffering and approaching loss. Courage is joined to gentleness and patient instruction. The calling is to faithful service rather than the pursuit of controversy.
With 2 Timothy 1–2 in view: What must be guarded or passed on, and with what kind of character?
