Distinguish description and direction
A passage may describe an action, express a feeling, make a promise, or give an instruction. These require different responses. An account of someone’s behavior does not automatically commend it, and a promise to a particular audience should not be detached from that setting.
Hope and goodness under pressure
Peter encourages communities facing hostility to live with hope, holiness, and mutual care. Christ's suffering shapes their response. These instructions do not require a person to remain in abuse or prevent seeking safety and justice.
With 1 Peter 3–5 in view: How can the response urged here preserve both faithfulness and care for others?
